PURCHASING A PRESTIGE DANE's PUPPY

This information is important please read before purchasing a Prestige Great Dane Puppy. We love our Danes and want them to join wonderful families who will commit to love and care for them as if they are family members. If you want a dog to stay outside all day and guard your yard, then a Dane is not the dog for you. There are exceptions to every rule but in general, Great Danes want to be with the family. They love and adore their family and as a breed, they are wonderful with children.  When we have a litter available it will be posted on this page.  You can email us and we can put you on our contact list and we will contact you when a litter is available. Our first litter will be between Daisy and Thunder. It will be of American/European blood lines. We are hoping for large, sturdy, well built Danes from their litter. Their pups should be tall yet round with large heads and jowels. We can't wait!

 Our puppies will go to their homes with the following and ownership agreement information:

• Age appropriate vaccines
• De-wormings
• Vet check
• Dew claws removed
• Registration Papers
• Spay/ Neuter Contract (for the puppies sold on an alter contract)
• Sample of Food we feed

• 72 hour health guarantee - Seller guarantees this puppy to be in good health at the time of pick up or delivery. You are purchasing a pet and companion, guaranteeing the health of a living creature is next to impossible and since we can not predict nor do we have control over what is going to happen to your pet weeks, months or years from the day you take it home, we only offer a gaurentee for the condition of the puppy at the time you take physical possession of it and for 72 hours there after. Additionally, no guarantee will be given as to size, color, quality or fertility of your Prestige Dane puppy.
  
  
• We will only allow buyer to take possession of the puppy if we believe it to be in excellent health. You, the buyer, agree to take your puppy to a liscensed veterinarian within 72 hours of taking posession of your puppy. (Vet check and any treatments are at your own expense). If any life threating illnesses (not listed below) are present at the time of this vet check, Prestige Danes will exchange your puppy for another one of equal value if we have one available at the time. (No refunds are given if another puppy of equal value is available) If we do not have an equal value replacement puppy available we will offer you a puppy from a future litter or refund your money. Any decision to have your puppy treated for any condition minor or major is solely up to you and at your own expense. Refund or exchange will not be given if immediate contact is not made with seller as to the puppy's condition if there is a life threatening health issue found. (An example of a health condition covered under our guarantee would be a hole in the heart or any other non treatable life threatening condition (not including a heart murmur which is common and can go away on its own).
  
  
• We safeguard our animals by making sure they are up to date on vaccines and health checks. Puppies are susceptible to Pneumonia and other infections such as Kennel Cough due to drafts, cold temperature, stress from travel, exposure to illness from pet stores, vet offices, other animals etc and are EXTREMELY vulnerable to viral infections including Parvo and Corona Virus which can easily be contracted by exposure to illness from pet stores, vet offices, other animals etc. Seller does not recommend taking your puppy around other puppies or to places that your puppy could catch Parvo or Corona or Kennel Cough (such as pet stores, and friends houses). Any and all above mentioned minor and/or major health issues are not covered by seller's guarantee because they can be contracted easily after leaving sellers location with puppy. The puppy needs to be examined by a licensed veterinarian if they occur (at buyers expense), and the D.V.M.'s advice should be followed. We recommend the injectable Kennel Cough Vaccine instead of the intra nasal as the intra nasal vaccine can cause Kennel Cough however please follow your vet's advise. DO NOT let your puppy touch noses with an unfamiliar dog that you are not sure has all it's vaccines up to date. We also advise against letting your puppy walk on pet store floors until well into its vaccine schedule. 
  
  
• Minor health issues that can be cured by medication or surgery are not covered by Prestige Danes (the seller).
  
  
• Prestige Danes (the seller) does not guarantee against hypoglycemia or any other common health issues such as diarrhea, wormy stool, coccidiosis, ear mites, external parasites, Mange or stress due to travel or new environment. It often takes many doses of de worming meds to de worm a puppy so you will need to make sure you continue with it's de worming schedule once it leaves sellers home.  
  
  
• We do not crop our Danes Ears. We prefer that you would not do so either however, if you choose to crop your puppies ears you must agree to do it no later than 9 weeks of age. (7 weeks is IDEAL, any later than that the cropping usually will not stand properely) Ear Cropping is dangerous if done incorrectly and can be deadly. If you choose to crop please use a qualified vet with vast experience in cropping Dane ears.
  
  
• You, The buyer, promise that you will not ever take your Dane to a shelter or pound. Additionally If there comes a time, for any reason, you can no longer keep your Dane, you will contact us and allow us to take the Dane ourselves or help you to find it a new home.   
  
  
• We, The seller, promise that we will take your Dane back if you can no longer keep it. Alternately, If we do not have space, we will help you find it a home or help you locate a reputible rescue in your area that we aproove of. However their are no refunds given. Additionally please contact us if you are having any issues with you Dane so we can help you to figure out how to be able to keep your Dane. 
  
  
• We, The seller, promise that we will always be available to offer you advise in raising and training your Dane to be a happy member of your family. (Although, we offer no gaurentees that it will work :o) We suggest www.TrainedAndReady.net as a potential training source for your Dane.
  
  
• You, the buyer, promise that you will agree to train, nurture and love your Dane and if you are having behaviour problems with your Dane  (like chewing, digging...) you agree to try advise before giving up your Dane.
  
  
• You, the buyer, agree to crate train your puppy and not leave it alone at home with out crating him. (leaving a Dane puppy at home unattended is one of the number one reason Danes end up in shelters and rescues. They are just like any other puppy that likes to chew up stuff except they are HUGE dogs and can do a ton of damage in a short amount of time) As they get mature they grow out of this but until they do its not wise to leave them uncrated when you are not at home or even not in the same room for an extended period. Crate Training will also speed up the process of potty training. Crate training is not cruel and will not hurt your Dane. We have done it for years and your Dane will be happier because they are trained properely and have their own space.
  
  
• Please understand that owning a Great Dane is a 7-11 year commitment and things like moving, having a baby, kids, allergies and job loss are all types of things that can happen during this time and are things you should consider before bringing any dog home to join your family. If these things happen, we can offer you advise on how to manage your new situation with your Dane. "We had a baby and did not want a big dog any more" or "After we had the kids we wanted the dogs to stay out side and they tear up our yard and bark" are very common reasons Dane owners take their Danes to rescues and shelters. If socialized properely, Danes are the best dogs with children and make the perfect family dog. Please consider your future plans and how a pet fits into them before getting any animal.
  
  
• Prestige Danes will help your family to be successful Dane owners by offering you advise for the life of your Dane. Please do your research and be financially ready to make the commitment of Dane ownership before you get a Dane puppy. Danes get real big real fast so you will need a good obedience class, an x-large crate, lots of dog food, puppy vet visits, spay/neuter, big dog toys, lots of patience and more. If you have ever read the Marmaduke cartoons then you get the idea of what owning a Dane can be like. Those cartoons are funny because Dane owners know they are, for the most part, true. :o)
  
  
• Owning a Great Dane is not for everyone but if you are ready to be loved, licked, sat on and knocked down a few times then we would love to help you make that dream come true.
